Job Title: AWS Architect (70/30 Design & Hands-On)
Location: New York NY 10281
Duration: Contract to hire or Perm
What We’re Looking For:
We need a self-starter who thrives in a leadership role and
can confidently guide us through AWS design and deployment challenges. You
should be ready to answer questions like, "How do I build my own
Kubernetes clusters?" or "What’s the best approach for this use
case?"—and back up your suggestions with reasoning and experience. If
you’re passionate about cloud architecture, hands-on problem-solving, and
driving innovation, we would love to hear from you!
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced AWS Architect with strong
DevOps expertise to join our team as the sole architect, taking ownership of
designing, deploying, and optimizing our AWS environment. This role is a 70/30
split between strategic design and hands-on implementation, with a focus on
leading efforts, providing actionable recommendations, and driving best
practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AWS services,
Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes, along with the ability to articulate
design decisions and their rationale. SnapLogic experience is a plus but not
required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design,
architect, and deploy scalable, secure, and cost-efficient solutions
within the AWS ecosystem.
- Provide
expert recommendations on tools, architectures, and processes based on
past experiences, including Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD
pipeline optimization.
- Lead
DevOps initiatives, balancing 70% design and strategic planning with 30%
hands-on implementation and troubleshooting.
- Advise
on building and managing custom clusters on Kubernetes, offering clear
guidance on best practices and optimal approaches.
- Collaborate
with stakeholders to assess needs, propose solutions, and justify
recommendations with data-driven reasoning.
- Optimize
the AWS environment for performance, reliability, and cost, proactively
identifying areas for improvement.
- Stay
current with AWS services and emerging DevOps trends to ensure
cutting-edge solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven
experience as an AWS Architect with a strong DevOps background, including
hands-on work in AWS environments.
- Expertise
in designing and implementing solutions using Terraform, CI/CD pipelines
(e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline), and Kubernetes.
- Ability
to lead architectural discussions, deploy solutions, and provide detailed
recommendations with clear justifications (e.g., "Why this
tool?" or "What’s the best way to build clusters on
Kubernetes?").
- Strong
problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to recommending tools and
strategies based on real-world experience.
- Comfortable
working independently as the sole AWS Architect while collaborating with
cross-functional teams.
- Solid
understanding of cloud security, scalability, and cost optimization
principles.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience
with SnapLogic for integration workflows.
- Exceptional
communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical
concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
