Job Description:    
Summary: The main function of a buyer is to purchase machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies or services necessary for the operation of an establishment. A typical buyer is responsible for buying goods and services for use by their company or organization. A purchasing agent is responsible for the purchase of machinery, equipment, parts, or services necessary for the operation of an establishment.

Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
- Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
- Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
- Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
- Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.

Skills:
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, negotiation skills and interpersonal skills.
- Expert ability to analyze financial reports, price proposals and other technical data.
- Expert ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.
- Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
- Expert knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to purchasing.
- Expert knowledge of supply chain management.
- Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance or a related business field required.
- 10+ years finance related experience required.
- CPSM/CPPM/CPP (Certified Professional Supply Management; Certified Professional Purchasing Management; Certified Purchasing Professional) preferred.

Position’s Contributions to Work Group: 
- Support buyer workload functions within the team.  Examples include issuing and tracking RFQs, quote analysis, negotiation support, cost / quality / delivery metrics tracking, leading metrics improvement projects, managing supplier transaction disputes, etc.

Why this Role?
- This procurement team supports a product team that has many new product introduction projects ongoing.  We have many of interactions with a broad spectrum of job functions (e.g. Procurement, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Resources) and leadership levels.

Typical task breakdown:
- Initially the role will be focused on supporting a more senior buyer with their various project workload activities and deliverables.  As the individual learns and grows in the role the intention is to give them projects to lead individually.

Interaction with team: 
- Traditional office environment interactions.  Everything from ‘walk up’ conversations to Teams messages & meetings to formal presentations.

Team Structure
- The peer group team consists of ~10-12 buyers and supplier development engineers that sit in the same building.  We interact with a broader procurement, engineering, and supply chain team that sits both locally and globally.

- Office environment, business casual attire

Education & Experience Required: 
- Years of experience: 10 years
- Degree requirement: bachelors
-  or associates with 12 years
-  or masters with 8 years.
