CAE Engineer 3 - (2078-1)
Newark, CA - Onsite
6 Months Contract
Summary: The main function of a CAE Engineer is to perform engineering analysis using computer-aided engineering tools to optimize product designs and manufacturing processes. This role involves collaborating with various engineering teams to ensure that products meet performance, durability, and safety standards.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and analyze FEA models to evaluate the structural integrity and performance of components. Optimize engine components, including cylinder head ports, combustion chambers, and cooling circuits. Collaborate with design engineers to improve product designs and implement engineering changes. Prepare detailed reports and present analysis results to project teams and senior management. Use CAE tools to enhance manufacturing processes and reduce development time. Ensure that designs comply with relevant safety and quality standards.
Skills:
Creativity, verbal and written communication skills and problem solving ability. Basic ability to utilize various forms of media, including print, electronic and film. Basic knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models. Previous experience in CAE analysis, preferably in the automotive or aerospace industry. Proficiency in CAE software (e.g., Abaqus, Hypermesh).
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. 5-7 years experience required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Help design and solve noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) problems in Client's electric vehicles.
- Assist with multiple computer aided engineering (CAE) projects (e.g., concept mock-ups, parametrization processes).
- Help with mechanical engineering projects relating to noise and vibration activities to ensure Client's vehicles deliver the highest level of performance.
- Assist with vehicle structure projects, including NVH sub-system analyses (e.g., body, chassis, powertrain) as well as NVH CAE analyses at the body in white (BIW) and full-vehicle levels.
- Assist with NVH CAE analyses at the sub-system and component levels.
- Assist with CAE analyses by utilizing optistruct.
- Help improve Client's design concepts for NVH performance, including feasibility processes by liaising with internal engineering teams (e.g., BIW, battery systems, chassis, interiors, exteriors).
- Assist with mechanical engineering correlation studies between test data and CAE data.
- Help assess mechanical engineering improvement processes for modeling and analyses purposes.
- Purpose of this team – Worker will be part of the NVH team (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness). He/She will work with a team of Simulation Engineers that simulates noise and vibrations inside the vehicles while it runs or stays idle.
- Reason for the request - New
- Surrounding team & key projects – ‘Midsize’, correlation with ‘Gravity’ related projects
- Motivators for this need - Skillset
- Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm – 100% - Meshing & analysis; problem solving
- Interaction level with manager/team – will be able to interact to multiple team members
- Chance for extension later? – TBD
- Expected working hours – 40 hours with potential for OT
- Location Requirements – Onsite – L1 or L6 CA
- What makes this role interesting? - Company is unique in its own right, breaking into a future of sustainable automative industry. Exciting and dynamics environment for diverse work on futuristic focus.
- Team Culture – Open, No Hierarchy, Collaborative, Fast-paced
- Disqualifiers – does not have good communication skills, knowledge regarding Fundamental principles of NVH is not up to par, not being able to adapt
- Best vs. Average – reliable work ethic, advance problem-solving skills
- Client experience preference – N/A
- Performance Indicators – standard KPIs, ability to identify and solve problems
