Our client is a software as a service company helping to match disabled employees with the right employer. Their main product is a case management system that is used by US state agencies to help participants obtain health evaluations, education, assistive tools, transportation, and other services and guide them into employment opportunities.

This role is a mixture of a network engineer, systems engineer OR infrastructure engineer, and cloud engineer. Since this is a smaller organization, someone that can wear multiple hats and has  a background in all 3 would be ideal! 

Day in the Life/Ideal Candidate:

  • Help to set up the network and maintain it
  • Scripting automated environments and tools
  • MUST have PowerShell scripting
  • MUST have Azure experience (AWS is fine as well)
  • Security is a big plus.
  • Someone willing to learn and be agile

Requirements:

Cloud Operations Engineers are responsible for automating the implementation, maintenance, and security of customer hosted environments to the extent possible and designing, testing, and building new solutions to address customer needs, including:


  • Develops automated capabilities to automate the establishment of secure, high-performing hosted customer environments.
  • Automates processes to ensure customer environment security and other key settings are maintained per specifications.
  • Designs new customer environment configurations to meet emerging market opportunities.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and enhances key software tools.
  • Implements new customer hosted environment monitoring and diagnostic toolsets and the capability to draw information from the resulting datasets.
  • Researches emerging technologies for potential incorporation into Alliance’ product offerings.
  • Develops automated capabilities to map and report on current customer environment specifications, security, and health.
  • Backfills for core Cloud Operations Engineer customer service responsibilities in instances of high customer support volume or unavailability of Cloud Operations Engineers.
  • Identifies opportunities for process efficiency, cost reduction and automation.
  • Supports and assists Alliance internal initiatives as requested.
  • Informs management and/or the product development team of ongoing or recurring product problems.
  • Maintains awareness of upcoming product releases and significant new features/ product changes.
  • 6+ months of experience in Azure or AWS

Responsibilities:

Cloud Operations Engineer – Cloud Operations Engineers are the day to day interface between Alliance and our hosted Customers.  Cloud Operations Engineers manage the health of Customer information system environments and address customer requests and inquiries.

Daily Duties:

  • Performs Aware VR and BEP deployments to hosted customer environments.
  • Manages the health and security of customer hosted environments and incorporated data, including continuous evaluation of the outputs of customer environment monitoring tools.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to customer inquiries and requests via phone, email, and Support case.
  • Addresses assigned customer support cases and produces proper related documentation with excellent attention to detail.
  • Diagnoses and resolves complex customer environment issues related to environment security, data backups, and environment and hosted software functionality.
  • Continuously communicates the status of open issues to customers, building customer confidence in Alliance’ managed services.  Proactively notifies customers of maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoots customer environment issues using native environment management software and other available tools.
  • Manages the application and renewal of Domain Name System (DNS) certificates for customer environments.
  • Performs customer environment maintenance including software patches, operating system updates, security enhancements, and other routine tasks.
  • Produces internal and customer-facing reports describing customer environment health.
  • Identifies opportunities for process efficiency, cost reduction and automation.
  • Supports and assists Alliance internal initiatives as requested.
  • Informs management and/or the product development team of ongoing or recurring product problems.
  • Maintains awareness of upcoming product releases and significant new features/ product changes.
