Job Description:

Qualifications:

Summary of the Job: The Client has a 6+ month contract opportunity for a Supervisory Consumer Compliance Analyst of Complaints within the Consumer Compliance Unit. 

We are seeking a candidate who possesses strong technical and analytical skills with respect to the application of consumer protection laws and regulations to the resolution of consumer complaints, exceptional writing capabilities, and an interest in public service. 

Complaint investigations involve extensive contact with the public and Client personnel, thus requiring the need for discretion and independent discernment. 


Position Requirements: 

• An applicant for employment in S+C must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or hold a permanent resident/green card with intent to become a U.S. Citizen. 

• A minimum of five years of direct experience in a Client/financial industry compliance or supervision function. 

• Advanced knowledge of consumer protection laws and regulations. 

• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook. 

• Strong organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, critical, and analytical skills. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

• Excellent project and time management skills and the ability to balance and prioritize multiple assignments as new priorities arise. 

• The ability to work independently under minimal direct supervision or oversight. 

• Demonstrates and models One Client Behaviors, which include: Collaboration, Emotional Intelligence, Accountability, and Critical Thinking.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities: 

• Work independently to manage a high volume of consumer complaints by coordinating multiple simultaneous investigations of consumer complaints against state member Client’s within designated timeframes and in accordance with Board-mandated guidelines. 

• Conduct thorough analysis of issues presented by the complainant, including: 

o Identify any necessary follow-up with the complainant and/or Client staff, 

o Determine applicability and compliance with various consumer compliance laws and regulations, 

o Identify appropriate resolution of issues, 

o Draft investigation/resolution summary letters, and 

o Determine the materials needed to support investigation findings. 

• Analyze and fully understand issues presented by the complainant, determine the materials needed to support investigation findings, identify any necessary follow-up with the complainant and/or Client staff, determine applicability and compliance with various consumer compliance laws and regulations, draft investigation response letter. 

• Maintain complete and accurate records of complaint investigations in accordance with Client and Board guidelines. 

• Maintain strong working knowledge of a variety of Client laws and regulations

– including staying abreast of regulatory developments, emerging issues, and compliance trends

– that have a significant impact on consumers. 

These laws may include, but are not limited to: 

o Regulation E, Z, DD 

o Unfair or Deceptive Acts or Practices (UDAP) 

o Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) 

• Maintain ongoing professional communication, both oral and written, with consumers and Client personnel.a
