Job Description

As a Cost Accounting Manager, you are responsible for setup and maintenance of accurate process cost information and reconciliation of standard costs to actual costs. You ensure costs for the products are allocated according to corporate procedures and in compliance with financial accounting standards. You oversee the cost control systems, manage and interpret cost audits, and prepare cost accounting reports.

 

You will:

  • Be responsible for all manufacturing cost accounting-related activities: month-end close, standard cost setting, labor and overhead absorption, inventory management, freight and duty tracking and monitoring
  • Develop cost standards for materials and labor
  • Perform variance analysis such as purchase price to cost variance, cost revaluation, invoice to PO price variances, and work order variances
  • Drive operational improvements and efficiencies on labor and overhead burden to improve business profitability
  • Process cost accounting and ensure accurate reporting
  • Perform regular cycle counts to correct inventory misstatements
  • Monthly reconciliation and updating of standard costs to actual costs
  • Gather historical cost data (materials, labor, depreciation, operating expenses, etc.) to compare budgets with actual expenses

 

Your skills include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or experience and evidence of exceptional ability
  • 5+ years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work under extreme uncertainty
  • Ability to understand the manufacturing environment and associated financial processes; knowledge of supply chain, receiving, inventory flow, operations process and manufacturing principles
  • International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) accreditation
  • CPA license preferred
  • Experience with NetSuite
  • Solid cost systems background
  • Strong business skills and effective understanding of financial, distribution, and manufacturing systems
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Experience manipulating large databases
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work comfortably under pressure and deliver results on tight deadlines
