Key Responsibilities:

  1. Excel-based Reporting (50-60%): Using Excel and Tableau for data analysis and reporting.
  2. Machine Learning Forecasting (40-50%): Develop machine learning models for forecasting, promotional analysis, using methods like PyTorch and Python.

 

Interview Process:

  • 2 rounds: Reporting, coding questions, and knowledge of relevant libraries.

 

Top Skills Required:

  1. Proficiency in Excel for business-critical thinking and learning application.
  2. Experience in Machine Learning (Python, PyTorch).
  3. Strong business knowledge (forecasting, promotional analysis).

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • Total 5-6 years of experience, with 2-4 years in Machine Learning.
  • MS degree in a quantitative field (STEM, Business Analytics) is a plus but not required.

Position Summary

  • The Client ecommerce team is looking for a Data analyst (contractor) to provide analytics and reporting along with building forecasting models, using excel, Tableau and machine learning tools. This candidate will be responsible to build key reports and build models for sales forecasting and doing promo analysis with high accuracy using analytics and build models based on Ecommerce sales drivers, promotional analysis and using category specific business knowledge.
  • The individual is expected to be hands-on to prepare key reports, build sales forecasting models, evaluate product mix, risk/opportunity analysis and to report and impact of promotions on different sales platforms, promotional analytics (attribution, elasticity and ROI/financial analysis). A successful candidate is highly analytical with critical thinking skills and business savvy with hands-on with excel and ability to use Machine Learning Models.

 

Essentials/Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build Key reports and consolidate reports across LOBs (Weekly Demand and Revenue outlook)
  • Hands-on to build Sales forecasting using several variables (Traffic, Seasonality, multiple promos etc.) using Machine Learning Models
  • Develop weekly/monthly/quarterly sales forecast for both quantity and revenue
  • Use Machine Learning/AI for Promotional analysis for attribution, elasticity and ROI/financial analysis
  • Build a play book to use Promotional lift and to recommend promos to achieve goals
  • Develop monthly/quarterly targets and distribute the targets to various categories/channels and traffic drivers for Ecommerce
  • Improve long term forecasting w/suitable analytical methodologies
  • Use advanced analytics methodologies such as ML/AI forecasting methodologies for sales forecasting
  • Create presentations with compelling data driven story to share with leadership, cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations

 

Background/Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in analytics with both advanced excel and Machine Learning Models.
  • Reporting and business focused analysis – 60%
  • Machine Learning model development for forecasting and Promotional analysis – 40%
  • Experience in a real world business experience outside of college is required
  • Experience in reporting with excel
  • Bachelor’s degree in math/analytics/engineering is required
  • Master’s in Analytics would be a plus
  • Hands-on with advanced excel with attention to detail to integrate complex data to build forecasting and to perform analysis
  • Knowledge of ML/AI models for forecasting, pricing and promotional analytics for business analytics is needed
  • Knowledge of building and using Tableau is required
  • Python programming skills for ML is required
  • Experience with Financial analysis to build business cases and to create P&L analysis is a plus
  • Creative thinker with excellent business acumen, analytical skills and experience with statistical modeling
  • High level of confidence, integrity, enthusiasm, executive presence that fits a fast-paced, energetic and proactive organization
  • Adaptability, using advanced preparation to quickly pivot throughout the week
  • Exceptional presentation skills with good Microsoft PowerPoint capabilities
  • Experience of working with Telecom, Technology, Consumer Electronics and/or Retail industry is strongly preferred
