Data Scientist (# 7232)

Job Description:
We believe the Internet should be a force for good — one that’s open, safe, and inclusive by design. Our mission is to ensure that the Internet is a global public resource that is accessible to all. We mobilize communities, fund bold ideas, and push for tech that serves people. Through advocacy, education, and open-source innovation, we work to make good on the Internet’s promise. Our newly formed Development Team drives philanthropic support that fuels this work.

About this team and role:
As a Product Data Scientist within the Data Organization, you will work with a group of data and non-data professionals responsible for understanding and driving the future of the internet. The Data Science team sits at the intersection of product, engineering, finance, business development, marketing, and leadership. We collaborate closely with these partners to create impactful data products.

What you’ll do:

  • Build key data sets to empower operational and exploratory analysis.

  • Define, evaluate, and report on key product metrics.

  • Design and analyze experiments to understand ecosystems, user behaviors, and long-term trends.

  • Advocate for standard methodologies across the organization.

  • Communicate narratives with data to a wide range of audiences, from product managers to technical leads.

  • Work at the intersection of product, marketing, engineering, and leadership to inform, influence, and help execute product strategy.

What you’ll bring:

  • You lead with empathy, value teamwork and knowledge sharing, and contribute meaningfully to an inclusive and equitable team culture.

  • You are an inquisitive thinker with full-stack data science experience—from designing and engineering data extraction processes to analyzing patterns and anomalies.

  • You have 3+ years of industry experience applying quantitative analysis skills, particularly with large, high-dimensional data sets such as those generated on the internet.

  • You have hands-on experience extracting data using SQL or SQL-like tools and performing statistical modeling using scripting languages (Python preferred).

  • You are experienced in presenting results clearly through reports or presentations and can explain technical concepts to non-expert audiences.

  • You are skilled at telling stories with data visualizations and creating impactful, insight-driven narratives.

  • You apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization to see beyond the numbers and understand how users experience products globally.
