Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- Support the design & development of low-pressure fuel systems for large diesel engines
- Will be the primary contact supporting specific engine families
Why this Role?
- As a member of the Low-Pressure Fuel Systems team within the Large Power Systems Division (LPSD), you will work on improving the reliability and durability of components including fuel priming pumps, transfer pumps, and filter bases. This role also acts as a system integrator, coordinating teams from across the enterprise to define and troubleshoot system-level performance.
Typical task breakdown:
- Review & assess warranty data to identify problems
- Lead Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) teams to resolve field issues
- Respond to inquiries from engine plants regarding assembly, quality, and system performance issues
- Collaborate with part suppliers to understand manufacturing processes and implement design & process improvements
- Work with detailing group to update prints
Team Structure
- One of two engineers working closely with a team lead to support large diesel engines. The broader team also supports alternative-fuel engines and solenoids.
Work environment:
- Primarily (~80%) desk work, with some (20%) hands-on testing & validation work as needed
