Typical Day in the Role
Summary: The main function of a Design Engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical design engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints. Job Responsibilities: Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects. Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software. Skills: Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented. Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports. Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD). Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering required. 10+ years experience required. Relevant certifications and accreditations required as appropriate for the role.

- Key projects: This role will contribute to airbag maturation of design, engineering and testing for Airbags produced in Client production vehicles.

Candidate Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 7 years or more overall years of experience in the field. 
- Degrees or certifications required: BS in Engineering degree (BSME or similar) is required to be eligible for this role.
- Disqualifiers: Candidates with less than 2 years will not be eligible for the role. This is NOT an Electrical or Electronics Engineering role.
- Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would include experience at the Tier 1 supplier and OEM level of Automotive Restraints design and engineering.

Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience 
1. Minimum 3 + years experience with Airbag Design
2. Minimum 1 + years experience with Curtain Airbag Design
3. Minimum 3 - 5 years experience with OEM and/or Tier 1 suppliers
