Job Description:
Seeking an engineer to develop, execute, and automate Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation activities for embedded control systems. The role focuses on dSPACE-based test environments, system-level verification, automation, and troubleshooting of electronic control software and hardware.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute HIL validation test plans for embedded control systems and ECUs.
- Configure, operate, and troubleshoot dSPACE/Vector-based test benches and validation environments.
- Create and maintain automated test scripts, data collection, and reporting tools to improve test efficiency and coverage.
- Analyze defects, perform root-cause investigations, and support system-level verification of software and hardware integrations.

- Knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
- Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.
- Basic ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software. Solid programming experience in C or C++
- Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to embedded systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.
- Strong hands-on experience with dSPACE HIL systems, ECU validation, and embedded controls testing.
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development concepts.
- Experience with Python automation, test scripting, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of CAN/J1939, UDS diagnostics, Vector tools, and hardware troubleshooting/debugging.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering or relevant field required.
- 2-4 years' experience is required.
Reason/motivation for request:
- Additional engineering support is needed to execute and deliver 2026 and 2027 Product Group commitments. This role will help expand HIL, SIL verification and validation capacity to meet program milestones and quality objectives.
Why this Role?
This position provides hands-on experience in both Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) verification and validation for Client embedded control systems. The engineer will work with dSPACE, MATLAB/Simulink, automation frameworks, and production software, gaining exposure to the complete virtual validation lifecycle while contributing to delivery of 2026 and 2027 Product Group commitments
Typical task breakdown:
- 40% HIL/SIL test development and execution, 30% test automation and scripting, 20% issue investigation and debugging, 10% team collaboration, reviews, and planning.
- Develop, execute, and maintain validation tests for embedded control software using dSPACE, MATLAB/Simulink, and automation tools
Interaction with team:
- Work closely with software developers, controls engineers, system integration engineers, and verification & validation team members on a daily basis.
- Participate in technical discussions, defect reviews, and validation planning activities
Team Structure
- Part of the Software Verification & Validation team supporting virtual validation, SIL, and HIL testing for Client embedded control systems.
- Collaborates with cross-functional engineering teams across software, controls, and product groups
Work environment:
- Primarily onsite engineering environment in Mossville, utilizing HIL benches, virtual validation tools, and laboratory test equipment.
- Fast-paced, collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality software and meeting product program commitments
Education & Experience Required:
- Years of experience: 2-4 years' experience
- Degree requirement: Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering or relevant field required.

- Knowledge of software development lifecycle, version control, and test automation framework development.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, perform hardware setup, and troubleshoot HIL/SIL test environments.
- Familiarity with diagnostics, fault injection, and validation reporting tools
