Job Description:
Summary: The main function of a research engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical research engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.
Job Responsibilities:
- Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.
- Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.

- Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- 2-4 years experience required.
Additional Role Details: We are looking for a dynamic, organized and self-starter engineer to join our Engine Development team in Mossville, IL. This job role will be responsible for efficient engine tests execution for Client's Large Dual Fuel engines. This individual will work with engine development engineers to ensure that engine and test cell setup meet the test objective.
Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- Test engineer is a key role in engine development to provide successful execution of the test plan.
- Effective Test cell and engine troubleshooting helps to minimize downtime and improve productivity.
- Individual will regularly review look ahead of test plan with senior engineers and prepare for engine and test cell setup.

Typical task breakdown:
- Support/direct/mentor test cell operators running engine tests.
- Troubleshoot both engine and test cell issues.
- Coordinate with support function teams like facilities, instrumentation, mechanic etc. for issue resolution.
- Document test cell and engine hardware issues.
Interaction with team:
- This position will be required to attend daily standup meeting with core team as well as hand off meeting for continuous operation.
- Individual will provide updates, participate in troubleshooting discussion, help reach to consensus on action plan and communicate results to technical team.
Team Structure
- Team has ~15 engineers from entry level to 20+years’ experience in various roles – supporting test operation, engine hardware validation, and performance/emission data analysis.
Work environment:
- We have developed a training process for test operation that will ease the onboarding experience.
- While conducting daily/hourly test activities is a fast-paced environment, there is opportunity for flexible schedule framework depending on test activities.

- Years of experience: 2-4 years
- Degree requirement: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
