Position: Information
Technology Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Nashville, TN Hybrid
Contract Duration: 6 months (C2H)
We are seeking a skilled and
motivated IT Infrastructure Engineer with specialized expertise in storage
solutions and VMware virtualization technologies. The ideal candidate will play
a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's
storage systems and virtualized environments. This role requires a deep
understanding of storage architecture, data management, and virtualization
principles to ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of our IT
infrastructure.
Scope of Work
- Storage
Design and Implementation
- Collaborate
with cross-functional teams to assess storage requirements and design
solutions that align with business needs.
- Deploy
and configure storage systems, such as SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS
(Network Attached Storage), and DAS (Direct- Attached Storage),
considering factors like capacity, performance, redundancy, and disaster
recovery.
- Implement
data tiering strategies, including SSD, HDD, and cloud-based storage, to
optimize data access and cost efficiency.
- Monitor
and manage storage capacity, utilization, and performance, proactively
addressing potential issues.
- VMware
Virtualization
- Design,
deploy, and manage VMware virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi
hosts, vCenter servers, clusters, and virtual distributed switching.
- Create
and maintain virtual machines (VMs) based on application requirements,
ensuring appropriate resource allocation and performance.
- Implement
and manage high availability (HA) and fault tolerance (FT) features to
enhance system reliability.
- Monitor
virtualization performance metrics, troubleshoot issues, and optimize
resource utilization.
- Backup
and Disaster Recovery
- Develop
and execute backup and disaster recovery strategies for both storage and
virtualization environments, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
- Perform
regular backups, test recovery processes, and maintain documentation for
recovery procedures.
- Collaborate
with security teams to ensure data protection and compliance with industry
regulations.
- Technical
Support And Troubleshooting
- Provide
technical support to internal teams for storage and virtualization-related
inquiries and issues.
- Diagnose
and resolve system and network problems, working towards quick resolutions
to minimize impact on operations.
- Participate
in on-call rotations to address critical incidents outside of regular
business hours.
- Infrastructure
Optimization
- Identify
opportunities to enhance infrastructure performance, scalability, and
cost-effectiveness.
- Implement
automation and scripting to streamline routine tasks, deployments, and
updates.
- Stay
current with industry trends and best practices to recommend and implement
improvements.
Education and
Experience
- Proven
experience as an IT Infrastructure Engineer with a focus on storage and
VMware virtualization.
- In-depth
knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, and data
tiering.
- Proficiency
in VMware virtualization technologies, including ESXi, vCenter, HA, and
FT.
- Excellent
problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical
issues.
- Strong
communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with
cross-functional teams.
Preferred Knowledge and
Skills
- Bachelor’s
degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Relevant
certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and
storage-related certifications are a plus.
- Strong
scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation and task
efficiency.
- Familiarity
with backup and disaster recovery concepts and tools.
