Job Description:
IT SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN
As an IT Systems Technician you will:
- Manage, troubleshoot, and update a broad variety
of systems including Windows, IBM i, SAN, network devices, NAS, backup
devices, and Linux
- Work closely with the networking team to
troubleshoot system connectivity & communications issues
- Respond to events, incidents and outages as
required
- Manage and support a fleet of 80+ NAS
devices. Configure replacements
when needed
- Manage and monitor daily server backups
- Work with the team to develop a patch/firmware
update strategy for various systems, and maintain & update the patch
levels on systems on a regular basis
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement tool(s) for
system performance management
- Maintain, update, and improve our documentation
repository (How-to docs, runbooks, etc).
- Assist with improving identity & access
management on various systems, and with security administration
- Test and improve disaster recovery (DR) plan
- Work with 3rd party vendors/business partners and
service providers to implement, upgrade and troubleshoot systems when
needed
- Learn, implement, and manage new systems

technical documents for IT peers and for end-users

occasion as needed.
- Ability to travel to retail sites and data
centers within the NY tri-state area as needed
Experience
- Minimum 1-year relevant working experience in an
enterprise data center environment.
- Experience with Server Operating Systems
- Experience with network administration, ability
to clearly communicate networking requirements and issues to networking
team
- Knowledge of server virtualization
- Comfortable working on a command-line (CLI)
- Exposure to Disaster Recovery / business
continuity, including server replication and failover testing
- Prior exposure to patch management and system
maintenance
- Exposure to firewall administration, maintaining
and updating firewall rules
Preferred skills (Nice to have, not required):
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technology field
- 3 to 5 years relevant working experience. Experience with retail sites a plus.
- Prior experience with IBM i Operating System and
IBM Power Systems
- Knowledge and experience in scripting
technologies
- Experience in SAN administration
- Familiarity with broad ranges of systems,
including AIX, IBM virtualization/VIOS, Linux
- Exposure to SAP HANA
- Experience with service providers and business
partners/vendors
