The Data Product Manager, XFL will champion a Data-as-a-Product mindset, responsible for planning, leading, managing and executing the product roadmap utilizing XFL’s enterprise data assets in partnership with business units at XFL. This role will be key to the rollout of the data driven products and platform reporting across XFL, and will partner with Data Analytics, business units and other technology teams across XFL portfolio to analyze user needs, documenting user stories, prioritizing themes and epics based on KPIs and other inputs, and tracking feature impact on KPIs. This role will work closely with other groups within Data Technology and with the Shared Services Support team in Analytics particularly working with the Senior Director of Analytics for XFL

 

He/She will support the collection, structuring and securitization of all fan touchpoints to empower the company with analysis and insights to drive a successful launch and operation of the new sports league. This position will be responsible for supporting Data analytics with hands-on quantitative analytics for the XFL at both the league and team levels, alongside defining a data strategy roadmap, helping to stand-up a data and BI technical architecture, and building the XFL analytics team. This position requires a well-rounded analytics leader with experience querying, collecting, capturing, modelling and aggregating data.  It also requires experience with supporting construction of dashboards and reports, conducting marketing research, and effectively presenting results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Devise XFL’s Data Strategy Roadmap working with Sr Director, Analytics for XFL and football and business stakeholders at the league and team levels to form the basis for leveraging analytics to drive decisions and fan experiences

·         Support buildout of tools, tech and frameworks to help XFL analytics team determine how data and insights can better inform and support their goals, and drive XFL growth across:

·         Revenue streams - including ticket and merchandise sales, content consumption, social media, and advertising and sponsorship activity

·         Business operations - understand business drivers and trends, forecast performance with near- and long-range outlook, identify opportunities to optimize performance and accelerate growth

·         Fan experience – advanced analytics on XFL Fan behavior, including preferences and patterns, customer journey and engagement; in the long-term this should translate to building outFan 360 and CLTV models

·         Gameday experience - enhancement of the in-stadium experience (pre-, during and post-game) and support of football ops considerations

·         Digital and Media - Analytics that support marketing and media planning, PR, IR, O&O and Social platform interactions, user engagement, sentiment, consumption, followers, media impact, journey, and sales funnel

·         TV and Broadcast - content analytics for TV ratings and audience measurement

·         This will mean being the Product Manager for Data Warehouse platform, enabling enterprise analytics applications and functional analytical/data science solutions.

·         Defining the vision and strategy of data products and capabilities aligned to overall organizational and business objectives

·         Combining the voice and needs of the users and business requirements to create both high-level roadmaps and detailed delivery plans of features and capabilities. Leading prioritization, stakeholder management and delivery for ingestion, processing and availability of data

·         Partnering with consumer-facing Product Managers to design tracking, capture & upstream data production solutions for product launches

·         Evaluating, integrating and managing relationships with data solution providers

·         Develop detailed product specifications with user scenarios and acceptance criteria and success measures.

·         Use a metrics-driven product development approach. Define success measures for roadmap items and demonstrate measurable impact on those success metrics

·         Partner with Analytics, Data Science, UX, Data Engineering, Data Architecture and Program Management teams to develop, test and deliver high quality products and features that meet end users' and internal business' needs

·         Lead and collaborate on all business readiness activities including product testing, end user education, rollout, iteration and support

·         Oversee the adoption of new features and capabilities across the organization

 

WHAT TO BRING:

The ideal candidate must be a seasoned individual leader with executive level communication skills, collaboration and influencing skills, and thorough command of business intelligence, analytics and data science within the media and sports industries.  The Senior Director shall have a proven track record of successfully leveraging, communicating and implementing solutions for actionable, transformative data insights, and a passion for managing and developing high-performing teams.

·         Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Math, Science, Economics or related field

·         5+ years in product management experience with building and delivering successful data products, services and capabilities

·         3+ years of professional experience in corporate business intelligence, data solutions or data strategy roles, preferably within subscription and/or content distribution businesses; TV, Entertainment, Media, or Sports industry experience is a must. Thorough knowledge of and relationships with data providers and platforms in the data space

·         3+ years of experience in applied data science, analytics or Machine learning is a big plus

·         Good understanding of AWS/GCP, relational and normalized databases from both utility as well as data model design and development

·         Familiarity with ETL and ELT methodologies

·         Working knowledge of SQL or basic query languages, Excel, statistical profiling and analysis

·         Experience with designing front end experiences and / writing to CRM systems, websites, applications

·         Planning acumen and demonstrated skill in pragmatic work breakdown / MVP definition

·         Highly analytical and collaborative qualities with strong technical, strategic and problem-solving skills

·         Ability to prioritize and juggle with competing priorities and make decisions in ambiguous situations

·         Strong leadership skills especially the ability to lead through influence across functional and organizational lines

·         Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced operational environment, drive change, and collaborate with a variety of individuals and organizational partners

·         Experience presenting to and working with senior leaders

·         Experience with Tableau or other visualization tools as well as with building enterprise business intelligence tools

·         Knowledge and experience of agile/scrum product development

NICE-TO-HAVES:

·         Advance CS, Elec, STEM or Information Systems degree and/or MBA is a plus

·         Experience with delivering large scale enterprise applications using big data open source solutions such as Hadoop, HBase, Spark and Kafka

·         Proficiency in SQL and one or more of these DB’s - Oracle, MySQL, Teradata

·         Industry experience in video streaming, OTT, Social Platforms, CRM tools, Direct to consumer marketing, Ecommerce

·         Knowledge of Open Source Systems and Tools is a big plus
