Typical Day in the Role 
Purpose of the Team: This team is a part of the Manufacturing & Engineering umbrella. Their main focus is on quality standards of Client products. The team will identify any product changes, contacts vendors companies for parts, place Purchase Orders and design any new equipment required for manufacturing. After finalization, the team will hand-over the updated products to maintenance and manufacturing team to put into production. The day to day will never replicate one another and there are constant changes happening on the team.

Candidate Requirements 

  • Years of Experience Required: 5 overall years of experience in the field.
  • Degrees or certifications required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, STEM or related field, or equivalent relevant education preference
  • Disqualifiers: Candidates not local to Arizona & do not have hard skill requirements.  
  • Best vs. Average: Ability to cross-collaborate and provide innovative thinking and ideas.
  • Performance Indicators: Performance will be assessed based on meeting deadlines and quality of work.

 

Top 3 Hard Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with Strong level GD&T qualification (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance)
  • Minimum 5 years’ Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with Strong analytical skills with a focus on detail and accuracy

 

As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, GA Dimensional Engineering, you will be responsible for ensuring that all manufactured parts and assemblies meet precise dimensional specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge in dimensional measurement, quality control processes, and the ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models. You will work closely with the design team to design fixtures that are functional, accurate, efficient, and cost-effective.

You will:

  • Blueprint & CAD Interpretation: Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, CAD models, and other design documents to ensure proper measurements and tolerances are understood and adhered to in the production process
  • Fixture Integration: Understanding how fixtures integrate with other manufacturing equipment, robots, conveyors, and tools, ensuring smooth operation across the assembly line
  • Process Flow and Ergonomics: Ability to design fixtures that align with the assembly line’s process flow, ensuring they’re easy to use for operators and don’t create bottlenecks
  • Work with cross-functional teams to recommend, evaluate and make design and process improvement proposals
  • Work closely with design and manufacturing engineers to develop, validate and incorporate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and engineering teams to provide technical input on design feasibility, manufacturability, and dimensional considerations
  • GD&T Application: Expertise in interpreting and applying GD&T standards to fixture design, ensuring that parts fit and function according to precise dimensional specifications
  • Tolerance Stack-up Analysis: Ability to evaluate and minimize tolerance stack-ups in the fixture design, which can affect the final assembly’s quality and performance

 

You bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a dimensional engineering role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills with a focus on detail and accuracy. Ability to identify and resolve dimensional and quality issues
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to work effectively with team members, management, and external vendors
  • Certification in dimensional measurement or quality control (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma)
  • Experience with advanced metrology tools and techniques
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other quality management systems
