Mechanical Engineer 2 (# 8312)

Job Description 
The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.

Job Responsibilities:
- Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.
- Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.

- Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
- Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- 0-4 years experience required.

Position’s Contributions to Work Group: 
- Executing key project tasks to support the component design engineer
- Key point of contact for print work (detailing & releasing) and CAD design work
- Supporting new component design with APQP collaboration work with external suppliers
- Helping to ensure customer success by correcting product problems

Typical task breakdown:
- Print work, component modeling, APQP, TFC, tolerance stack-up, deviation investigation, parts inspection, etc.

-  Leading team meetings as necessary, updating project plans and status reports.
- Providing daily updates on activities to design engineers & team leads

- Supporting role within team to design engineer on Valvetrain components

Education & Experience Required: 
- Years of experience: 0-4 years
- Degree requirement: Engineering or Engineering Technology; Bachelor’s required; Master’s considered
