Mechanical Engineer I (# 8326)

Summary:
We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer I / Field Service Engineer to support daily system-level investigations for the Prime Air Drone system at commercial operations sites. This role will focus on troubleshooting drone issues, identifying root causes, implementing solutions, and improving system reliability. The engineer will also support new drone delivery sites through equipment provisioning, programming, testing, and deployment activities.

Location: North Randall, OH (Onsite / Travel Required)
Duration: 4 Months

Description:
The Field Service Engineer will work closely with operations and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues with Prime Air drone systems. The role requires hands-on technical investigation, system-level troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and rapid implementation of solutions to safely return drones to service. The engineer will also assist with the deployment and commissioning of equipment at new drone delivery sites.

Key Responsibilities:
· Troubleshoot and investigate drone system issues occurring during commercial operations.
· Perform system-level diagnostics and root cause analysis.
· Develop and implement solutions to improve drone reliability and availability.
· Support new drone delivery site launches and equipment provisioning.
· Program, configure, test, and validate site equipment.
· Work closely with engineering, operations, and technical teams to resolve field issues.
· Document troubleshooting activities, findings, and corrective actions.
· Travel to operational sites as required.
· Follow safety procedures and engineering standards while performing field activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
· Experience with mechanical/electromechanical systems and troubleshooting.
· Experience performing root cause analysis and resolving hardware/system issues.
· Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work onsite and travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with drones, robotics, aerospace, aviation, or autonomous systems.
· Experience with field service engineering or production support.
· Experience with electrical/electronic systems and hardware testing.
· Experience with programming, scripting, or equipment configuration.
· Experience supporting new site launches, equipment installation, or commissioning.
· Experience working in a high-volume operations environment.

A reasonable, good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum for this position is $35 to $38/hour.
