Job Description:
Department
is seeking a .NET Developer with a strong interest in developing systems on the
Microsoft platform for our Wildlife branch. This position is ideal for a
developer with 1-3 years of experience, who has a proven record of
accomplishment of delivering high-quality solutions and is looking to
contribute their expertise at a junior level. The role offers a hybrid work
environment, allowing for both telecommuting and in-office work. This is a
12-month contract position with the potential to renew/extend. As a .NET
Developer, you will work within a small team to build and maintain a modern
version of our existing permit system. You will leverage your advanced skills
in C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server, MVC, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap to design
scalable and efficient solutions. A key aspect of this role involves
collaborating with biologists, regulatory, and non-technical staff to gather
requirements and ensure the system meets their needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain web-based applications using C#, ASP.NET, SQL
Server, MVC, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
- Collaborate with the development team to design and implement new
features and functionality for the permit system modernization project.
- Collaborate with biologists, regulatory, and non-technical staff to
gather requirements, understand needs, and translate them into technical
specifications.
- Support the migration from legacy ASP.NET Web Forms to modern
MVC/Razor Pages architecture.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs for the new MVC project.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex bugs and issues in a timely
manner.
- Stay up-to-date with modern development technologies, frameworks,
and industry trends.
- Support the transition from VB.NET to C# and other modern
technologies.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of projects and tasks.
- Use Git for version control and collaborate effectively with the
team.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in .NET development, with a strong record
of accomplishment of delivering high-quality solutions.
- Expert proficiency in C#, with a strong interest in modern
technologies and frameworks.
- Extensive experience in web development using ASP.NET, SQL Server,
MVC, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap.
- Experience with Entity Framework and database design.
- Proficiency with Git version control.
- In-depth knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming principles and
design patterns
- Experience working with biologists, regulatory, and non-technical
stakeholders to gather requirements and explain technical concepts.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to
handle complex challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability
to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
- Self-motivated, with a passion for continuous learning, innovation,
and driving technical excellence.
Preferred
Skills (not required, but a plus):
- Experience migrating legacy ASP.NET Web Forms applications to
modern architectures.
- Experience with .NET Core and Razor Pages.
- Experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
- Strong familiarity with Agile development methodologies, such as
Scrum or Kanban.
- Experience working in government or wildlife management systems.
- Experience working with regulatory requirements and compliance
systems.
