Database Administrator

Work Arrangement: This position is hybrid, and the selected
candidate is expected to work in the office 3 days per week and follow the same
schedule as state workers.
Seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) with
strong mainframe experience to support the Service Mining
project. This role focuses primarily on maintaining and enhancing
existing Oracle databases and mainframe systems rather
than performing new installations or configurations. The ideal candidate will
have extensive experience in database analysis, development, and
maintenance, with strong technical skills in writing views,
packages, procedures, and functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain
and support mainframe and Oracle database environments for the Service
Mining project.
- Develop
and enhance database components, including views, packages,
procedures, and functions.
- Collaborate
with application and business teams to support evolving business processes
and functional enhancements.
- Learn
and understand the existing Oracle database architecture and associated
systems.
- Ensure
database performance, reliability, and integrity across production and
development environments.
- Utilize
mainframe database tools such as Toad or DbForge
Pro for database management and development.
- Partner
with Commonwealth Office of Technology (COT) DBAs who manage all installation
and configuration activities.
- Assist
in troubleshooting, optimization, and documentation of database processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3
years of experience working with mainframe databases and
Oracle environments.
- Strong
experience developing and maintaining views, packages, procedures,
and functions in Oracle.
- Proficiency
using Toad or DbForge Pro for database
development and maintenance.
- Solid
understanding of mainframe systems and their integration
with Oracle databases.
- Ability
to analyze and enhance existing database functionality to meet business
needs.
- Strong
analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience
supporting legacy mainframe applications in a government or large
enterprise environment.
- Familiarity
with Oracle PL/SQL and data modeling best practices.
- Demonstrated
ability to work collaboratively across technical and business team
The job tasks of the Database Administrator would include
- Meet
with programs to learn business processes utilized in SMIS; work closely
with agency staff and IT staff in prepare comprehensive documentation of
technical requirements, processes, and specifications for the Surface
Mining Information System.
- Create
and Refine Complex Queries: Construct efficient and accurate database
queries, procedures, and audits to ensure seamless data retrieval and
integrity across supported systems.
- Work
closely with IT leads and developers in the ongoing development and
implementation of enhancements for the Surface Mining Information System
(SMIS) to meet changing user requirements and improve operational
effectiveness.
- Collaborate and Communicate Effectively: Partner with users, business analysts, and team members to address system needs, troubleshoot issues, and convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
