Job Description
Research Analyst – Labor Focus

  • Perform complex professional statistical analytic work in gathering, tabulating and analyzing labor market and workforce data. 
  • Compile, verify, tabulate, and report labor market data for the Current Employment Statistics Program (CES) and assist with the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages Program (QCEW).
  • Develop statistical tables and graphs, conduct analyses, and work with a variety of stakeholders to create reports and information products.
  • Utilize data from the Client Longitudinal Data System (KLDS) to develop reports using database reporting software as well as statistical software packages when needed to conduct advanced analyses under the direction of senior management. 
  • Work with state and public agency staff as well as other individuals to understand and document their data needs, develop report proofs, create reports, dashboards or other items to fulfill their data needs.
  • Produce employment and earnings estimates on a monthly and annual basis following procedures established by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
  • Provide technical assistance, training and guidance to data users.
  • Respond to data requests.


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating analytical projects, large statistical reports, and applying advanced statistical methods
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to write and present material clearly which can be easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences (required please provide examples)
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Tableau/SAS/SPSS/STATA/R or other statistical software required
  • Background and understanding of database development, systems and production report software preferred
  • Experience with ARC GIS, and Crystal Reports, Microsoft SSRS, or other report writing software preferred


Required Experience:

  • At least four years of full-time professional experience developing statistical reports, conducting analyses, and preparing complex information for agency leadership, education and workforce practitioners and the policy maker communities
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience developing, maintaining, and analyzing longitudinal data.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in a quantitative statistics based academic discipline such as a social or behavioral science, policy studies, or economics is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field with experience above the required minimum may be considered as a substitute for a master’s degree
  • Experience in gathering, computing and analyzing statistical data for surveys and/or labor market reports or related experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
