Job Description
- This
role is focused on Civil engineering, cargo equipment , technology
innovation (If any of the candidates have experience working in those
fields it’s a huge plus)
- We are establishing a new project
management function, focused on technology, equipment, and terminal
operations.
- This is an exciting opportunity
to help shape a brand-new area, working closely with engineering teams and
cross-functional stakeholders to deliver impactful projects across our
network of terminals.
Role Overview
- We are seeking a Senior
Project Manager to lead and execute projects across terminals, primarily
focusing on technology, civil engineering, and equipment engineering
initiatives.
- This role is central to
building out the project management function, supporting expansion,
standardization, and improvement projects at terminals across the West
Coast and other U.S. locations.
- The ideal candidate is
proactive, results-driven, and able to manage multiple projects from
planning through execution.
- This role will work
closely with contractors, internal teams, and central office leadership to
ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage capital
investment, improvement, and standardization projects across terminals.
- Develop and implement
project management practices, processes, and execution plans for a newly
structured project management area.
- Coordinate with
engineering teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver
projects efficiently and effectively.
- Oversee budgets,
timelines, and resources, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
- Travel approximately once
per month to terminals across the U.S., spending 1-2 weeks on site as
required.
- Drive project scope, risk
management, and issue resolution.
- Mentor and guide junior
project managers as the team grows.
- Interface with central
office leadership on project progress, resource allocation, and strategic
planning.
Qualifications
- Strong project management
experience, including leading complex projects involving civil
engineering, cargo terminal operations, technology implementation, and
equipment engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to
build and structure project management functions within an organization.
- Exceptional
organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Experience of managing
contractors and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical skills
with the ability to understand scope, develop execution plans, and deliver
results.
- Previous experience in
cargo terminals, marine operations, or related industries preferred but
not required.
- Willingness to live and
work in Seattle and travel monthly to various U.S. terminals.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in technology
innovation and equipment integration in terminal or industrial settings.
- Strong presence in on-site
project leadership, with the ability to make decisions in dynamic
environments.
- Ability to proactively
drive initiatives and take ownership of results.
Team and Environment
- This is a newly structured
area with a small team currently in Seattle. Expectation is traveling to
any of these potential locations: Takoma, Oakland, Long Beach, LATAM, and
terminals across the Southern US.
- The successful candidate will play a key role in defining the function and contributing to the growth of a high-performing project management group.
A reasonable, good faith estimate of the minimum and
maximum hourly wage for this position is $85 to $100/hr.
