Position summary:

  • The Senior Database Administrator role will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and the day-to-day activities related to the Technology Infrastructure and Platform Systems (TIPS) Database portfolio within Operations and Technology with oversight and governance for key systems administration initiatives ensuring the integrity of the distributed database services for our customer facing applications and corporate systems portfolio.

 

Qualifications required:

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science/Engineering, MIS or equivalent
  • 7+ years as a Microsoft SQL Server subject matter expert in IT/financial services
  • Deep knowledge in SQL Server 2016 (and later) Always on Availability Groups Database Administration techniques and strategies in a High Availability environment
  • Database Administration experience in a SQL Server Enterprise environment utilizing high availability / disaster recover features.
  • Extensive knowledge of core infrastructure components such as high availability/federation/replication
  • Experience administering and managing PostgresSQL
  • Ability to travel up to 20% (between NYC, NC and TX)
  • Strong facilitation skills with working committees and steering committees
  • Very good knowledge within the Infrastructure ecosystem in execution of implementation initiatives, capacity management efforts, and design of high availability and backup & recover solutions
  • Positive track record of delivering large scale complex projects & initiatives
  • Ability to communicate with highly technical/quantitative as well as non-technical partners

 

Qualifications desired:

  • Master’s degree or education/training/certification in an IT related field
  • Experience with administering and supporting Tableau Server and Desktop, including troubleshooting, report design, performance tuning, working with users to resolve issues with publishing workbooks and dashboards in Tableau Server and Desktop
  • Experience designing and creating interactive Tableau visualization reports and dashboards
  • Experience with Db2 and Unix systems
  • Technical Project andor Product Management Experience
  • Proficient with Dell/EMC Data Domain and Power Protect Data Manager (PPDM)
  • Extensive experience designing and developing enterprise software solutions
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Experience working across large infrastructure environments and distributed across multiple data centers
  • Experience with cloud technologies

 

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and support all aspects of the SQL Server and Tableau environment including administration and maintenance, business continuity, backup and recovery, capacity management, change management, security management, and installationconfiguration management in production and non-production environments.
  • Work with other technical staff to coordinate activities and implementations, follow and document procedures, respond, track, and escalate systems incidents
  • Follow change management and configuration management procedures and guidelines
  • Serve as technical lead /mentor /representative and provide technical guidance and mentorship
  • Serve as representative for all technical issues/discussion with peer support teams
  • Manage and delegate daily technical group tasks and efforts to appropriate staff/skills
  • Oversee and manage BAU projects such as infrastructure software upgrades, patch management and continuous improvement
  • Provide oversight for technical deployment plans and system utilization reports
  • Extensive knowledge of core infrastructure components such as high availability/federation/replication
  • Provide assistance and problem support to infrastructure partners, application developers, business analysts and business users while assessing impacts and communicating effectively
  • Recommend innovative solutions aligned with the organizational initiatives and recognized problem areas
  • Architect, deploy and champion adherence of an enterprise approach facilitating best practice methodologies to stakeholders across the estate
  • Create, maintain and present detailed technical documentation and executive summaries for key stakeholders, including senior management
  • Ability to facilitate productive meetings at the work group and steering committee level

 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Work with Senior Managers and Business Users to design effective Tableau Dashboards, assist with Data Analysis, Data Cleansing and Data Transformation
  • Work closely with internal and external partners to guarantee continuous infrastructure availability
  • Suggest and implement standard processes and procedures, continuous improvement, and automation efforts across the enterprise
  • Provide technical leadership advice and industry best practices as first contact to stakeholders and clients pertaining to enterprise infrastructure related requests
  • Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned
  • Serve as technical lead/mentor/representative and act as proxy for manager when required

A reasonable, good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base salary for this position is $110K/Annum to $125K/Annum.  This position will also include a discretionary bonus 15% of Target Bonus depending on a variety of factors
