Job Description
Role Focus: Support a telematics engineer with testing
activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop
and execute test procedures, including use of a test suitcase/fixture
(Pelican box).
- Utilize Vector tools (CANoe,
CANape) to simulate machine messages.
- Perform testing in the lab and
occasionally on small machines (e.g., skid steers, small wheel loaders).
Machines remain stationary; candidate won’t operate them.
- Manage BCP assets and
telematics-related tasks.
- Documentation work:
reading/writing functional requirements, creating test procedures,
handling ASCII documents.

Ability to work with telematics and develop test scripts using CANoe from
Vector.
Typical task breakdown:
Individual interacts with telematics engineers on defining activities and then
engages with other individuals on the team to deliver.
Interaction with team:
Interacts with telematics engineer and display testing engineer on
understanding CANoe testing process.
Team Structure
Telematics engineer is the mentor and provides direction.
Candidate Requirements:
Education:
- Preferred: Associate’s degree
from Wake Tech or JCC (local community
colleges).
- Open to: Other local colleges
if candidate is based nearby.
- Bachelor’s
degree considered overqualified
– not preferred.
Experience:
- Preferred:
1 year of work or internship experience.
- Open
to: Candidates without experience if they show potential.
- Telematics experience not required – training will be provided.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity
with CANoe, CANape, and other Vector tools.
- Strong
documentation skills – ability to work with ASCII
documents and write test procedures.
- Basic
programming knowledge (e.g., JavaScript, CSS3) from computer
science-related associate programs is helpful.
- Ability
to work independently with minimal direction.
Soft Skills:
- Good communication skills.
- Initiative and problem-solving
mindset.
- Ability to ask questions and
figure things out with general guidance.
Notes:
- Strong preference for local
candidates due to proximity and ease of access to machines.
- Relocation candidates will not
be considered.
- Candidates with more than one
year of experience are welcome to apply.
