Storage/Server Division Manager

Job Description
Client ITS is seeking a senior-level leader to oversee enterprise server
infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers, virtualization
platforms, Storage Area Network (SAN) systems, and enterprise data integrity
services. This high-visibility position reports directly to an Executive
Leadership Team member and is responsible for ensuring the 24x7 availability,
stability, and security of critical systems across the organization. The
selected candidate will lead a team of 14 staff, including 6 direct reports,
and must bring strong skills in communication, team development, and strategic
execution. Success in this role depends on the ability to lead through others,
build alignment across departments, and drive forward-looking initiatives that
ensure performance, scalability, and resilience. A firm grasp of ITIL-style
service operations including Incident, Problem, and Change Management is
expected. This leader will focus on strategic planning, operational oversight,
performance optimization, and risk reduction. Ideal candidates will have an
operations-oriented mindset, a high degree of professional maturity, and a
proven ability to lead complex enterprise initiatives through collaboration and
clear accountability structures.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Provide strategic leadership to the Server, Storage,
and Backup teams
- Maintain ongoing alignment with the Assistant Director
and escalate major risks or issues appropriately
- Establish and refresh infrastructure strategic plans in
coordination with ITS executive guidance
- Lead lifecycle planning and execution for end-of-life
hardware and software
- Evaluate infrastructure-related projects, staffing
models, and operations to identify improvement opportunities
- Oversee enterprise patching, vulnerability remediation,
access control reviews, and infrastructure security posture
- Support team development through strong hiring
practices, mentoring, and goal setting
- Coordinate with cross-functional leaders to drive
infrastructure projects and enterprise- wide initiatives
- Maintain inventory and performance metrics for
infrastructure assets
- Ensure compliance with service level objectives and
enterprise security requirements
- Direct planning for business continuity, disaster
recovery, and capacity forecasting
- Develop annual plans and budget recommendations,
including ROI analysis for infrastructure investments
- Drive automation, process efficiency, and
interoperability improvements
- Lead adoption and optimization of modern infrastructure
technologies including:
- Pure Storage for high-performance, scalable storage
solutions
- Dell PowerStore for intelligent, adaptable storage
infrastructure
- Commvault for enterprise-grade backup, recovery, and
data protection
- Microsoft Azure Cloud for hybrid cloud integration,
scalability, and modernization
Research, assess, and advocate
for emerging technologies to meet future enterprise needs
Management Functional Duties:
- Set goals and objectives for the division and monitor
progress
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and
standards
- Determine staffing and equipment needs
- Participate in budgeting and administer division
budgets
- Oversee staff selection, training, evaluation, and
performance management
- Provide hands-on technical leadership as needed
- Prepare written and oral reports for executive
leadership
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 to 10 years of proven experience managing enterprise
server infrastructure
- Experience with data center management in
high-availability environments (100% uptime preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with technologies such as Pure
Storage, Dell PowerStore, Commvault, and Azure Cloud is highly desirable
