Job Description:
The Cabinet has approved filling the System Architect Contractor Position.
**Purpose:**
This position provides architectural and engineering
direction for the centralized Client Educational Technology System (KETS)
networking environment supporting over 170 sites. It oversees WAN connections,
routers, firewalls, VPN servers, and more, ensuring access for students,
teachers, and administrators to essential online resources. OET sets network
standards, negotiates vendor contracts, and provides design support to school
districts as needed. Proper staffing is crucial due to the complexity and importance
of maintaining a robust network.
**Description:**
1. Establishes specifications and standards for KETS Wide
Area Network Infrastructure, collaborating with stakeholders.
2. Acts as Technical Lead on network projects, participating
in planning and design, and guiding project transitions to production support.
3. Conducts research and plans for WAN capacity, ensuring
integration with existing systems.
4. Engages with vendors to communicate KETS needs and adjust
strategies based on industry trends.
5. Provides engineering oversight for IT services related to
network systems and offers level-3 technical support.
6. Participates in the RFI/RFP process and assists in
contract management.
7. Attends meetings to understand KDE and district needs.
8. Helps create technical documentation for networking
services.
9. Utilizes tracking tools for project management and may
have periodic on-call duties outside normal hours.
10. Performs other assigned duties.
