Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead complex, cross-functional engineering and product development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background combined with experience managing technical projects, cross-functional teams, project budgets, and stakeholders within a matrix organization.
The Engineering Project Manager will independently plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects that may span multiple product lines and technical disciplines. This individual will work closely with Engineering, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently plan, execute, and manage complex engineering and product development projects.
- Lead cross-functional project teams within a matrix organization.
- Develop project plans, schedules, milestones, deliverables, and execution strategies.
- Coordinate activities across Engineering, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Operations, and other functional teams.
- Manage project budgets, product development costs, cross-functional expenses, and capital expenditures (CapEx).
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and potential delays, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Identify and resolve complex technical and project-related problems.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among technical teams, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- Provide project updates, status reports, risk assessments, and recommendations to key stakeholders.
- Apply engineering principles and independent judgment to evaluate and resolve complex project challenges.
- Ensure projects are completed according to established timelines, budgets, quality requirements, and business objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 8–10 years of relevant engineering and project management experience.
- 2–5 years of experience leading teams within a matrix management environment.
- Strong experience managing complex engineering or product development projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional technical teams.
- Experience managing project budgets, costs, expenses, and capital expenditures.
- Strong knowledge of engineering and product development processes.
- Ability to independently identify, analyze, and resolve complex technical and project-related problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder management, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across different technical disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within medical devices, healthcare products, manufacturing, or other regulated product development environments.
- Experience managing New Product Development (NPD) or New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
- Experience collaborating with R&D, Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Operations teams.
- Strong understanding of project risk management and product development lifecycles.
