Position’s Contributions to Work Group:
- Internal Manufacturing Quality in Fuel Systems – focus on machining processes”
Typical task breakdown:
- Problem solving, corrective actions: lead/support investigations into quality issues (scrap/rework/customer complaints), develop and implement corrective and preventative actions, Use quality tools like 8D, fishbone, and FMEA
- Process monitoring/continuous improvement: use data and risk analysis to direct actions, collaborate with small business team (manufacturing engineers, operations) to improve process capability and reduce variation
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze quality data (e.g., defect rates, process capability, SPC charts), Prepare reports for management and cross-functional teams, Track KPIs such as First Pass Yield, internal and external PPM
- Training and Support: train operators on quality standards and inspection techniques, support cross-functional teams with quality-related expertise
Interaction with team:
- Attendance to regularly scheduled meetings
- Peers and direct management at start of shift
- Daily interaction with employees in assigned section (operators, team lead, section manager)
- Meeting with cross functional teams to address issues as they arise
- Close collaboration with Small Business Team
Team Structure
- Quality engineers are peers organized under quality manager
- Quality engineers will be assigned to specific cost center and be part of that small business team (SBT). The SBT is a cross-functional team meant to address issues and maintain operations of a cost center or cost centers.
Work environment:
- Union factory environment, PPE required: ear, and eye protection, safety toe shoes
- Office environment by desk/cubicle: expect conference calls and meetings typical of an office space
Education & Experience Required:
- Years of experience: 5 years plus 3 years of internships
- Degree requirement: bachelor’s in relevant field, master’s 3 years plus internships
