Job Description  
Summary: The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints. 

Job Responsibilities:
- Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
- Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.
- Oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
- Implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- 8-10 years experience required.

Position’s Contributions to Work Group:  
- Provides drivetrain design support for Large Mining Trucks, Off-Highway Trucks, and Wheel Tractor Scrappers.
- Supports current product issue resolution for final drives, differentials, brakes, wheel groups, torque converters, transmissions, and electric drive systems.
- New product development support for the above mentioned drivetrain products.

Typical task breakdown:
- Support for root cause investigation of field issues, design of solutions, release and implementation of solutions.
- New product concepts, design development, and implementation.
- Current factory issue support, design & process issue investigations, and supplier support.
- Creo Modeling & Drawings for designs.  Collaboration with internal and external process partners.
- FMEA, APQP, PPAP Support

Interaction with team: 
-  Member of collaborative design team with world wide design control over associated drivetrain components.
- Collaboration with on-site teams as well as off-site domestic and international teams.

Work environment: 
- Member of team providing in person support for Drivetrain product built in Decatur, IL facility.  Team also provides off-site support for product built internationally.

Education & Experience Required: 
- Years of experience: 8-10+
- Degree requirement:  BS Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
