Summary:
The main function of a mechanical engineer is to research and investigate the design, functionality and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. A typical mechanical engineer has the ability to make engineering drawings, and read and interpret blueprints.
Job Responsibilities:
• Research, design, develop, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines and other mechanical devices.
• Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects.
• Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendation to maintenance crew.
• Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.
Skills:

• Team player and detail oriented.
• Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.
• Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 2-4 years experience required.

Typical task breakdown:
- Develop Test Plan, Coordinate DUT modifications, Instrument and Installation of DUT, Execute testing, Data analysis, Summarize results and conclusions, lead weekly update meetings, document findings, create presentations, troubleshoot issues with test stand, DUT, controls, etc
Interaction with team:
- Will work with a team lead or Sr engineer to learn role and that individual will continue to mentor and oversee testing activities
Team Structure
- Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of a given test lab, with team leads providing oversight
Work environment:
- Lab testing environment, typically spend 30% at desk, 70% in lab running test or working DUT prep
Education & Experience Required:
- Years of experience: 2-4 years
- Degree requirement: BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Agricultural Engineering
